KVCC Scholarship Program 

GUIDELINES & SELECTION CRITERIA

Purpose

The purpose of the Kennebecasis Valley Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Awards is to provide financial assistance to students in order to further their education at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Eligibility

The applicant:

• Must be enrolled in Grade 12 in Kennebecasis Valley High School or Rothesay High School at the time of application,
• Must have attained an overall average of 80% in any 5 of his/her Grade 12 courses or equivalent,
• Must be registered as a full-time student in a first-year program of a post secondary school of his/her choice by September following the school year of application.  (Full-time is a minimum of 3 courses per semester).
• Must complete and submit a 250-500 word personal statement or an essay in answer to the question: “Why do you believe you should be the recipient of this award?”
• Must submit a reference letter regarding involvement in activities within school, community and/or employment,
• Must complete and submit the “Scholarship Application Form”
• Must complete and submit the “Scholarship Agreement Form”
• Must complete and submit the “Personal Information Release Form”
• Must submit an Official Transcript of marks from your high school.
   

Value

A maximum of $500.00 awarded to one Kennebecasis Valley High School applicant and a maximum of $500.00 awarded to one Rothesay High School applicant.

Payment and Presentation

Presentation of a certificate and cheque will be made at the successful applicant’s high school Annual Graduation Ceremony by a KV Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee member or by a KV Chamber of Commerce representative.

Selection Committee

In all matters concerning these two awards from the Kennebecasis Valley Chamber of Commerce, the decision of the Scholarship Committee shall be final.  All information received will be treated confidentially.

Deadline

All applications forms, essay, and official transcript of marks must be received at your school's Guidance Councillor's office no later than 3:00 p.m. on May 15^th of the year of application or the Friday before if it falls on a weekend.

Selection Criteria

A complete scholarship application package will be considered for a Kennebecasis Valley Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Award from students from both Kennebecasis Valley High School and Rothesay High School.   Each school will be presented with one scholarship award.  The Scholarship Committee may award a scholarship to applicants who have demonstrated the highest level of achievement based on the following criteria:

3.       Community Involvement/Leadership	20 Points Max
4.       Awards/Declarations	15 Points Max
5.       Financial Need	10 Points Max
Total Points Possible	100 Points Max

Please deliver your applications to the Guidance Councillor at Kennebecasis Valley High School and Rothesay High School.  They will be collected by a representative from the KV Chamber of Commerce.

Please ensure that your application for the KVCC Scholarship Award is complete and all documentation is submitted:
